The CKD developed and built the so-called "Brejlovec" ("Goggles") in Prague. The T 478.4, further developed from the previous type T 478.3, received a more powerful motor and an electric train heating system. In 1988, the eighty-six locomotives were given the new class designation 754. From 2009, the locomotives used in passenger service were painted in the blue/grey "Najbrt" colour design.
